Firstly, the supply drop. It seems Charlie may have been thinking the same as many of us - that the supply drop was linked to the hatch going into lockdown. As the episode opened, Rose was stacking large tins of carrots and other tinned food, all with the label we've come to expect, D1 9FFTR731 - it seems some sort of program may still be in effect.
Bernard's SOS was made from some very interesting rocks. The "black rocks" he referred to are probably black lava rocks. A much larger rock of the same kind can be seen when Jack and Kate arrive at The Line declared by the Others. This means that, at some point, there has been a volcano explosion, leaving formed lava rocks strewn all over the island… And did you notice that when Bernard abandoned the sign, it was a frowning face?
In a heartbreaking scene, we watched Bernard learn that Rose was dying from cancer, after she told him when he proposed in a classy restaurant. Bernard tricks Rose into coming to Australia to visit a faith healer, Isaac of Uluru, on their honeymoon. Up until this point, we had known that she was religious and he a dentist; it was interesting to see their roles reversed in flashback, with her accepting her fate and making peace while he was unable to lose hope.
Isaac claims his home lies above a "place of power" that can be used to heal people. He mentioned that there are several types of energy, such as magnetic, that can be harnessed for healing. He attempted to heal Rose, but reeled away from her in a similar panicked way to how the psychic had done to Claire in Season 1. Something about the doomed passengers of Oceanic flight 815 really spooks people attuned with belief based occupations - and Isaac had two Dharma wheels on his thank you wall...
When he wasn't able to heal Rose, he flatly stated that his energy wasn't the right type for her, and that he didn't know where the right place was. In that one little statement, could Isaac of Uluru have unlocked one of the island's greatest mysteries that Rose now knows the answer to? We know something behind the hatch wall has a strong magnetic pull - the key around Jack's neck being pulled towards it showed its strength. Isaac mentioned the some magnetic forces have healing properties - could the button be linked to some sort of magnetic force? Magnets are used in many alternative forms of medicine...
Locke was able to walk immediately after the crash - he used a machine to keep his legs in shape, strengthening the theory that if the island healed his ability to walk, he would instantly able to get up and do so. Sun is pregnant, and we know Jin was impotent. Granted, Jin may not be the father, but Sun swore that she had been faithful, with Jin proclaiming the conception a miracle.
That's three people who have been healed - and then referred to it as a miracle. My question to you - miracle or magnetic energy? Faith or science? Here's the big question about these "miracles"; has whatever the button must be pressed for healed them permanently - or only while they remain stranded?
