Yahoo Finance New COVID rule for Sydney, NSW workplaces
The NSW Premier on Wednesday has announced several new restrictions for Sydney, Central Coast, Shellharbour, the Blue Mountains and Wollongong, including masks now being mandatory in workplaces from 4pm today (Wednesday).
NSW has clocked a further 14 locally acquired COVID-19 cases, NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian announced at a press conference this morning.
“We want to ensure there is more widespread mask wearing,” Berejiklian said.
“If you are [in any] setting including a workplace, including Parliament House, except if you are speaking, you should wear a mask.
“We will extend mask-wearing to indoor settings like workplaces, and we already had them in place for a number of venues we announced yesterday.”
The NSW Government has already required masks to be worn on public transport, taxis, and indoor spaces where social distancing isn’t possible.
“If you are going to work in your workplace, even indoors, wear a mask,” Berejiklian added.
Other restrictions include limiting household visitors to five people (including children); all patrons in bars and restaurants to be seated; 20 people allowed on a dance floor; and no singing or dancing at venues except weddings.
The one person per four square metre rule is also back in place, major outdoor sporting events will be cut down to 50 per cent capacity, and gym classes will be limited to 20 people.
Meanwhile, those living and working in certain areas (the city of Sydney, Woollahra, Bayside, Canada Bay, the Inner West, Randwick and Waverley Council) are not permitted to leave metropolitan Sydney.
