The memorable act, which by today's standards would only be shocking because they weren't wearing masks, made history.
And now you can purchase the moment as a non-fungible token (NFT) through the Cryptograph auction platform.
Titled ‘The Kiss’, the NFT captures one of the most legendary moments in award show history.
The original image was captured by Hollywood veteran photographer John Shearer, who has now partnered with Cryptograph to immortalise the moment into an exclusive NFT.
‘The Kiss’ NFT will go live at 4am AEDT on Friday on the Cryptograph auction website, with a percentage of the final sale price being donated to GLAAD, a nonprofit organization devoted to countering discrimination against the LGBTQ+ community.
What are NFTs?
The major thing to know is that NFTs are digital assets stored on blockchain - the same technology underpinning cryptocurrency purchases, mining and trading.
Just because one thing is an NFT does not mean it has the same inherent value as another NFT. They’re not equal, so they're “non-fungible”.
NFTs are tokens that represent ownership of unique items and allow people to tokenise things like art, collectibles, or real estate.
