The countdown to Amazon Australia’s biggest sale is on after the release of Prime Day 2022 dates this week.

Shoppers can mark off July 12 and 13 for massive deals on big brand products from Apple, The North Face, Bose, Nintendo, Lego, Samsung, GHD and more.

Prime Day Australia deals officially run for 48 hours until midnight July 13, however, due the time difference, Aussies can nab bargains on the UK and US Amazon websites until 5pm AEST, July 14.

What goes on sale for Prime Day?

There will be discounts on all product categories on Amazon Australia, including electronics, homewares, beauty, toys, video games, sports equipment, food and drink, and fashion.

Amazon-branded products like Kindles and Echo smart speakers will also be on sale, as will items from small Australian businesses, which you can browse on the Shop Local Businesses page.

Unfortunately, the full list of sale items is a heavily guarded secret, only shared moments before Prime Day kicks off, but last year's popular items included multi pack cans of Coca-Cola, and big-ticket tech like robot vacuums, noise cancelling headphones, air purifiers and smart lights.

Beauty products were also popular, with Aussie shoppers nabbing deals on Olaplex, Foreo, Burt’s Bees, Cetaphil and more

What is Amazon Prime Day?

Once a year Amazon offers crazy discounts on literally hundreds of thousands of products.

It’s a really big deal in the US, rivalling Black Friday sales, and last year US shoppers spent USD$2 billion.

Aussies spent millions last year at the third Australian Prime Day.

The event can confuse first timers, as new deals drop constantly throughout the two days, so keep checking back so you don’t miss something amazing.

Then, of course, there are the elusive Lightning Deals that offer the biggest dollar savings on in-demand products.

As the name suggests, you need to be lightning fast to take advantage of them, as only a very limited number of items are available at that price.

The best way to keep across the sale is to make a wish list and check back over the two days.

If you have an Alexa-enabled device, you can ask Alexa what the best deals of the moment are.

How to shop Prime Day in Australia:

To take advantage of sale prices you have to be an Amazon Prime member.

A Prime membership costs $6.99 a month and can be cancelled anytime, so many people choose to sign up just for the month of the Prime Day sales.

If you haven’t signed up, there’s a 30-day free trial (which will include the Prime Day sales if you sign up today) and you also get access to Amazon’s streaming service, free shipping on a wide range of products and other perks.
