Brutal reason Prince Harry didn't make it to the Queen's side

Prince Harry looked devastated after he missed seeing his beloved grandmother one last time before her death.

While his brother Prince William and other relatives travelled earlier to Balmoral in Scotland, Harry was left to make the journey by himself much later. Now, a source has revealed the tragic reason behind his delayed journey.

According to The Telegraph, “Harry hadn’t even been called” while William was boarding his private jet with Prince Andrew, Prince Edward and Sophie, Countess of Wessex.

The publication reports that the royals didn’t expect the Queen to deteriorate so quickly, and William was summoned by King Charles as a Counsellor of State.

After Buckingham Palace had alerted the public that the doctors were ‘concerned’ about the Queen, Harry rushed to Scotland, departing London at 5.35pm.

Unfortunately, the Queen’s death was announced at 6.31pm while Harry was still in the air. He didn’t arrive at the castle until 7.52pm.

William and Harry's surprise reunion

This comes after the brothers reunited with their wives Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle for the first time since 2020.

The two couples walked around Windsor Castle to view flowers outside the gate and pay their respects.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex's departure led to a rift between the brothers, with both Harry and Meghan voicing criticism of royal life over the last two years.

The brothers' bond seemed to be restored as the foursome walked through the crowds and accepted condolences from the public.

The two couples even left in the same car and headed in the direction of Frogmore Cottage, Harry and Meghan's UK residence.

However, The Telegraph casts doubt on any hope for a long-term reconciliation between the brothers, with royals writer Camilla Tominey suggesting it’s all for show.

Their united front has been described as “time-limited” and a source says William’s invitation was simply an “important show of unity at a difficult time”.

“Both he and the Princess of Wales felt that the focus should solely be on this period of deep mourning and nothing else,” the source told the publication. “That the focus should only be on his late grandmother.”
