Detail in Harry and Meghan's trial delay sparks pregnancy buzz

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, 39, have sparked pregnancy buzz after they successfully delayed their legal battle against the Mail On Sunday until October 2021.

The trial was scheduled to begin in January however the couple’s request to postpone proceedings was permitted by Judge Mr. Justice Warby at a pre-trial hearing at the High Court in London on Thursday UK time.

The Duchess’ legal team reportedly submitted the application during a closed hearing that morning, with Judge Warby revealing that his ruling was based on “confidential grounds”.

“My conclusion is that the right decision in all the circumstances is to grant the application,” he said.

“That means that the trial date of January 11, 2021, will be vacated and the trial will be refixed for a new date in the autumn.”

“Hearings in private are an exception. It was necessary to hear that part of the evidence in private as a way to protect privacy and the administration of justice,” he added.

Meghan’s invasion of privacy lawsuit against British tabloid company Associated Newspapers will recommence no sooner than October 15, 2021, leading many to speculate that the mum-of-one is currently — or is planning to become — pregnant.

Royal watchers on Twitter were quick to do the maths and conclude that the year-long break is sufficient time for the Duke and Duchess to welcome a younger sibling for their first son, Archie, who was born in May 2019.

“Is Meghan Markle pregnant again? She has been granted a 9 month suspension of her liable case,” wrote one.

“Trial not to start prior to Oct. 2021? Well, guess we know #meghanmarkle is pregnant and the baby is prolly [sic] due in late spring!” said other.

“So are we all in agreement that #MeghanMarkle is pregnant! A nine month delay is an oddly specific time frame.

“At least the the UK taxpayers won’t have to pay another half a million pounds for a maternity wardrobe. #megxit,” remarked one.

Meghan filed a claim against the Mail On Sunday and its parent company Associated Newspapers back in October 2019 after the newspaper published portions of a private letter she wrote to her estranged father, Thomas Markle, in August the previous year.

For his part, the 76-year-old former film lighting director said in a statement that he opposed the trial delay citing health concerns as the reason he wanted it to begin ‘the sooner the better’.

“None of my male relatives has ever lived beyond 80 years of age,” he wrote.

“I am a realist and I could die tomorrow.”

According to the UK Telegraph, a spokesperson for the Sussexes would not comment on the reasons for the application to postpone the hearing.
