MAFS' Cyrell reveals truth behind surprise engagement: 'Caught out'

Married At First Sight fan favourite Cyrell Paule has revealed the surprising truth about her recent engagement to Love Island's Eden Dally.

The popular personality revealed during an Instagram Q&A on Tuesday that Eden had popped the question after she came back from filming Channel Ten’s new reality show The Challenge Australia in Argentina earlier this year.

“Here’s the thing that I actually haven’t shared but will now,” she wrote. “When I came back from filming @thechallenge_au… @dallyeden did ask me to marry him. And well, to be continued. If you know you know.”

Now, Cyrell has exclusively revealed to Yahoo Lifestyle what really happened when Eden proposed and why she actually asked him to do it again.

“So the night he was proposing, I caught him out,” she tells us. “I noticed him constantly talking on the phone to my family friend who I knew worked for a jeweller, which I found weird because I gotta say, he met the bloke once.

“Then he kept saying ‘Make sure you full-on dress up’ and I was like, ‘Why do I need to dress up so much?’”

Cyrell adds that because her partner is “the worst liar” and she catches him out on “everything”, she ended up asking him directly if he was planning on proposing to her.

“He caved in and said ‘How’d you know?’, then told me the sweetest little speech and asked me to marry him,” she continues.

While Cyrell immediately said ‘yes’ to his proposal, she admits she asked him “not to do it now” for two main reasons.

“One, my surprise was ruined and I wanted it to be done properly,” she says. “I deserve a proper engagement, the works, everything.

“Two, call me old fashioned but he needs to ask my father’s permission first.”

Cyrell and Eden have been dating since 2019 after they were first spotted getting cosy at fellow MAFS star Jules Robinson’s birthday party. Five months after going public with their relationship, the couple revealed that they were expecting their first child together.

In February 2020 they welcomed their son Boston into the world, and have since created an Instagram account for him so fans can follow along with his adventures.
