Neighbours cast members set to join rival show Home and Away

Home and Away is set to return from its mid-season break with two new cast members from rival show Neighbours.

Harley Bonner and Jacqui Purvis will make their Summer Bay debut Monday 9 August on Channel 7 after the Olympics end.

Harley starred as Joshua Willis on the Channel 10 show from 2013 to 2016 when his character was killed off.

The 30-year-old joins Home and Away as Dr Logan Bennett, a fully-qualified trauma surgeon who sparks a romance with restaurant owner Mackenzie Booth.

A new trailer also shows that Dr Bennett is the person who rescues Dean, Nikau and Mia from their intense car wreck.

Meanwhile, Jacqui Purvis will play Felicity Newman on the Channel 7 soap opera, a character described as a ‘firecracker with an abundance of confidence and no filter’.

She will be introduced on screens dancing on top of a bar in the style of Coyote Ugly where she attracts the attention of Tane Parata.

Jacqui previously had a role in Neighbours for 18 episodes in 2019 as Melissa Lohan, the ex-girlfriend of Chloe Brennan.

Channel 7 have declared that 2021 will promise plenty of ‘happily ever afters, heartbreak and new beginnings’ for Home and Away.

Doctors Tori and Christian will finally tie the knot, while romance blossoms between Jasmine and the town’s new cop Cash.

Meanwhile, viewers were left on a cliffhanger last week when it was revealed that Dean, Nikau and Mia - as well as her unborn baby - were involved in a tragic car crash.

The mid-season finale ended with Dean and Mia unconscious in the vehicle right on the cliff’s edge, while Nikau had been thrown out of the car when his passenger door separated.

The new trailer has provided an update for fans, showing Dean lying in a hospital bed with ex-girlfriend Ziggy by his side.

“I forgive you for everything,” she whispers to him.

Fans online have expressed their excitement for the show’s return and for Dean and Ziggy to potentially get back together.

“So excited for a Diggy reunion,” one person commented.

“After every storm comes a rainbow, I can’t wait for Home and Away to come back,” another wrote.
