Prince Charles to 'walk' with Harry in Windsor before US return

They've just farewelled the late Duke of Edinburgh during a moving and intimate funeral service at St George's Chapel in Windsor.

And now, Prince Charles, 72, is reportedly keen to spend some quality time reflecting on his father's passing with his son, Prince Harry after spending over a year apart.

A 'walk around Windsor'

"There has been talk that Charles will walk around Windsor with Harry to look at some of the tributes [to Prince Philip] and spend some time together," a royal insider told The Mail On Sunday.

Harry, 36, made a last-minute dash from his new home in Los Angeles to be with his family in the UK just days after the duke's death on April 9.

The future king is no doubt eager to make the most of his son's visit before he returns to the US to be with his pregnant wife, Meghan Markle ahead of the birth of their second child.

Charles and his wife, the Duchess of Cornwall previously paid an emotional visit to a memorial for Prince Philip in London a day before the funeral.

Just how Charles and Harry's rumoured walk will fit in with current COVID-19 restrictions remains unclear.

The Duke of Sussex went straight into a 10-day quarantine after he flew into London but was granted permission to attend his grandfather's funeral on "compassionate grounds."

In line with UK Covid rules, Harry must continue to self isolate at "all other times" and was expected to return to Frogmore Cottage, where he is believed to be staying, directly after the service.

Frogmore Cottage was, of course, home to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex for a little over a year before they announced they were stepping back from royal duties in January 2020.

The cottage is a short eight-minute drive from Windsor Castle. The Queen and Prince Charles were spotted strolling through the grounds near the cottage just days before Philip's passing.

'Shouldn't be spending time with anyone'

Speaking ahead of Saturday's funeral, royal author Victoria Murphy expected Prince Harry to be excluded from any royal family gatherings after the service.

"He has flown over here and he is allowed to, on compassionate grounds, attend the funeral service," Victoria told the Royally Obsessed podcast on Thursday.

"But he is supposed to be quarantining outside of that. So he shouldn't be spending time with anyone."

It's believed that any plans for a private wake for Philip were scrapped, however, if one had gone ahead Harry would not have been able to attend.

The Duke of Sussex sat alone throughout the service due to Covid guidelines but was seen talking with his older brother, Prince William afterwards as they made their way back to Windsor Castle.

Royal fans have welcomed this as a 'turning point' in the brothers' relationship which has been frosty ever since the Sussexes' tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey back in March.
