Rebel Wilson's bombshell baby admission: 'Emotional rollercoaster'

Hollywood star Rebel Wilson has revealed she plans to have a baby on her own "because of the biological clock".

The 42-year-old Aussie actress told People magazine her goal to be a mum was actually the driver behind her whopping 37kg weight loss during her 2020 "Year of Health".

In the interview, she said her biological clock had kickstarted her journey into motherhood, which she described as an "emotional rollercoaster".

Speaking about her visit to a fertility specialist in 2019, the Senior Year actress said, "He looked me up and down and said, 'You'd do much better if you were healthier'".

"I was taken aback. I thought, 'Oh God, this guy's so rude'. He was right. I was carrying around a lot of excess weight," she told People.

"It's almost like I didn't think of my own needs. I thought of a future child's needs that really inspired me to get healthier."

Rebel added losing weight meant she had a better chance of harvesting and freezing her eggs.

"I would love to have a family," she told People.

"I'm just going for it by myself at the moment because of the biological clock. If I meet the right person, great, and then they can fit in with whatever happens.

"It's great that the technology exists. You have so many options with surrogacy and sperm donors. I only started thinking of fertility when I was 39 so you feel quite late but then there are women in their mid-40s who've been successful. Look at Janet Jackson, it's pretty inspiring."

Rebel recently confirmed she was in a new relationship after admitting she dated about 50 people during her "Year of Love" in 2019.

"I went on some dates with some billionaires and then also some people who had nothing. It was the full spectrum of people," she told the U Up? podcast.

She added she was 39 at the time and had only had a few small relationships.

While Rebel remains tight-lipped about the identity of her new love interest, many have speculated she had been dating tennis star, Matt Reid.

They have been spotted together on a number of occasions, including on the AACTA Awards red carpet and at the US Open.

In December, almost a year after splitting with boyfriend Jacob Busch, the Herald Sun reported that whispers in the tennis world suggested the pair "could be more than just friends".
