“As some of you may know, my mum Libby has been gravely ill for a while (she has an autoimmune disease which has resulted in heart failure) & on his way to visit her in hospital ten days ago, my dad Mac collapsed after having a stroke,” Samatha said, alongside an image of her with her family.

“Luckily he wasn’t out the back of Wagga in a paddock as he probably wouldn’t be here to tell the tale.”

Samantha said her dad was currently in rehab and “giving plenty of cheek to his long-suffering, wonderful nurses”.

Her mother is also currently in a stable condition.

“Despite having both of them in hospital (with the added pressure of the totally necessary Corona-related-visitor restrictions) now I’m heading back to work tomorrow morning,” she continued.

“To anyone out there with loved ones in the hospital right now or anyone out there near your parents right now, give them a hug for me.

“Now, can 2020 just p*ss off already.”

It certainly hasn’t been the best year for Samantha Armytage. Like many Australians, Sam’s year kicked off with her forced to flee deadly bushfires that ravaged NSW over the New Year period.

The 43-year-old took to Instagram to say she was ‘thankful’ to have escaped the deadly NSW bushfires in one piece and to wish her followers a ‘belated’ happy New Year on January 1, confirming she’d ‘made it out’ of the dangerous South Coast fire zone.

She then spent some time away from her hosting duties on Sunrise, stuck at home ‘sick as a dog’ for many weeks, before she eventually returned only to be hit with a racial vilification lawsuit, alongside Prue MacSween.

The lawsuit came a controversial segment on indigenous adoption aired by the Seven Network back in 2018.

Sam copped heavy criticism online as a result, and eventually spoke out to defend herself against trolls and bullies, even revealing she had been receiving death threats.

“There is no place for racism in our country, our media, our hearts. There should also be no place for violence or threats,” she said at the time.

Luckily things have picked up a bit, announcing in June she is engaged to Richard Lavender, showcasing her sparkling diamond ring online.

“What a year,” she wrote in the caption.
