The 'miracle spray' cleaner everyone's talking about

After spending so much time baking or walking in lockdown, many of us then turned to spring cleaning and now, with Christmas and New Year coming, it's time to get the house in top shape again.

To get the job done, a 'miracle' spray that was recently featured on A Current Affair is going viral for getting everything sparkling clean without too many chemicals and without paying a fortune.

Made up of water and four supermarket ingredients – washing soda, vinegar, eucalyptus oil, dishwashing liquid – the recipe can be found on the back of the Lectric washing soda bag, which you can buy from most supermarkets like Woolies.

Here is the recipe for two litres of this all-round cleaning product:

  • 1.5 litres of water (1 cup boiled water)

  • 3 dessert spoons of Lectric soda (also known as washing soda)

  • 300ml vinegar

  • 60ml dishwashing liquid (any brand)

  • 25ml eucalyptus oil

First, dissolve the washing soda in the cup of boiled water.

Add that to the remainder of the 1.5 litres of water.

Add all other ingredients.

Pour it into a two-litre bottle for storage and decant it into smaller spray bottles for ease of use.

Spray onto surface to be cleaned, leave for five minutes then rinse off.

Others have also shared their success with miracle spray on things like soft furnishings, tiles, kitchen appliances and shower screens, some with great before and after photos.

Whether you call it miracle spray or OMFG Spray or anything else, the one thing everyone agrees is that it does the job for a fraction of the price of commercial cleaners.
