The Project's Carrie Bickmore 'in talks' with Seven and Nine

Carrie Bickmore will remain host of the Hit Network's national drive show alongside co-host Tommy Little after she leaves The Project next month, despite rumours she may host 2Day FM's breakfast show.

According to the Daily Mail, insiders suggest Carrie's management is in talks with Seven, Nine and Ten about what the future may hold.

Sources have also revealed the Carrie and Tommy show is staying in its drive time slot, with the host's $1.5million radio salary remaining the same.

It's believed Carrie will sign a 'network deal', where she will exclusively work at one network, but could also work across a variety of programs, rather than just one show.

Ten surprised by Carrie's exit

It comes after reports Ten was surprised by Carrie's announcement she would be leaving The Project after 13 years at the helm.

The Australian reports Ten was surprised when the host announced she would be leaving The Project as they thought she was happy with her salary, with Carrie earning a huge $1.1million a year to host the show three nights a week between 2021 and 2022.

This puts her ahead of talent such as David 'Kochie' Koch, Natalie Barr and Tracy Grimshaw.

Karl Stefanovic and Sonia Kruger, who both work full-time, are said to be making $1.5million a year.

The publication adds that Carrie was reportedly paid $1.3m and $1.4m when she hosted the show four nights a week.

It was previously believed Carrie and Tommy might move to the 2Day FM breakfast show or the Today Show and A Current Affair, with TV industry veteran Robert McKnight saying on the TV Blackbox podcast, "We need to consider... [Carrie is] earning, what, a million dollars for her afternoon [radio] show per year? The question is, is [Carrie] priming to take over the Sydney breakfast radio show?"

"[The current show is] rating like crap. I have already heard whispers she's being offered $2 million a year to do the Sydney radio show with Tommy Little."

He added, "Television doesn't have the kind of money that radio does."
