Brian Laundrie’s parents detail last time they saw him alive
The parents of Brian Laundrie have detailed the last time he was seen alive before he went missing.
On Thursday, human remains were discovered in Carlton Reserve just hours before the FBI also uncovered a backpack and notebook belonging to Mr Laundrie at Myakkahatchee Creek Environmental Park in the US state of Florida.
Dental records confirmed on Friday the remains belong to Mr Laundrie.
The Laundrie family’s lawyer Steve Bertolino told NBC News Chris Laundrie, Mr Laundrie’s dad, had said his son was distressed the last time he left home.
“Brian was very upset when he left and Chris conveyed to me several times that you know, he wished he did not let him go but he could not stop,” Mr Bertolino said.
“But Brian is a grown man. He was 22 years old. He wanted to walk out the door, he was entitled to walk out the door.”

Authorities had been searching for Mr Laundrie for more than a month before his remains were found. He was sought after his partner Gabby Petito went missing and was found dead on September 19. The pair had been travelling together at the time.
Richard Stafford, lawyer for Ms Petito’s family, said her parents would have no immediate reaction to the identification of Mr Laundrie’s remains.
“They are grieving the loss of their beautiful daughter,” Mr Stafford said in an email.
“Gabby’s family will make a statement at the appropriate time and when they are emotionally ready.”
The investigation into Ms Petito’s slaying, however, is not over.
But only Mr Laundrie has ever been identified by law enforcement officials as a person of interest in the case.
