Election 2022: Car ploughs into voters at pre-polling booth

A Melbourne woman has been hospitalised after she was struck by a car outside a pre-polling both in the city's east.

The 43-year-old Ringwood woman suffered non-life-threatening injuries when she was struck outside the Maroondah Sports Club in Ringwood on Friday afternoon.

An 89-year-old woman was trying to park outside the polling station when she struck the woman, police said.

Members of the public came to the pedestrian's aid, with one witness telling 3AW it was a "horrible scene".

The woman is believed to have minor injuries and was taken to Royal Melbourne Hospital in a stable condition, an Ambulance Victoria spokeswoman said.

Police said the driver, a Croyden woman, will undergo a licence review.

She was also taken to hospital in a stable condition.
