Coronavirus Sydney: Pizza restaurant and Woolworths close over virus fears

A pizza restaurant in Sydney’s southwest will close for three days after announcing one of their customers tested positive for coronavirus.

Mancini's Original Woodfired Pizza in Belfield posted the update on their Facebook page on Friday after being informed about the customer by NSW Health.

The restaurant said the male customer visited the location for dinner with a group on July 10.

“NSW Health has advised us that we are low risk as the customer was in the restaurant for an hour and stayed within his group,” the post on Facebook read.

“We are choosing to close the doors for three days from tomorrow and have the restaurant professionally deep cleaned.

“Our customers health and safety is a priority for us.”

Mancini's said all staff would undergo testing for the virus and NSW Health had been given all customer contact information for the evening.

Woolworths staff member tests positive for coronavirus

Meanwhile, Woolworths have confirmed that a team member working at the Bowral store has tested positive for coronavirus.

Customers were reportedly informed on Tuesday evening when an announcement was made in-store and the location was immediately closed.

A Woolworths spokesperson told Yahoo News Australia they were made aware about the staff member on July 14 and the store underwent an additional deep clean overnight, reopening safely on Wednesday for shoppers and staff.

The infected staff member last worked on July 12 and did not present any symptoms. They are now is self-isolation.

“While the risk of transmission to customers and team members is low, the safety and wellbeing of the local community is our priority,” a Woolworths spokesperson told Yahoo News.

The supermarket urged any shoppers or staff who were in store on July 12 who feel unwell to contact NSW Health.

“Customers and team members should be assured they can continue to safely shop and work at our Bowral supermarket,” the spokesperson assured.
