'Disturbing': Couple outraged by 'unsettling' find on pizza

A couple say they were horrified to open their pizza box on Saturday night (local time) to find pieces of pepperoni placed to form a backward swastika.

Misty and Jason Laska, from Ohio in the US, said they made the “unsettling and disturbing” find after purchasing a pre-made “hot and ready pizza” from a Little Caesars store near Cleveland.

"We were literally silent for a few moments," Mr Laska told CNN.

"Misty asked me if I had ordered it and they had to make it and they gave me that on purpose thinking they were targeting me because they stereotyped me or something."

The Laskas said they tried calling the store, but were unable to reach anyone.

Mrs Laskas posted an image of their dinner on Twitter and Facebook.

“What the fuck is this s**t?! Jason stopped At little Caesars on Smith Rd off of Snow and when he gets home THIS is what they gave us! This was what they had in there warmers! I’m Livid!” she posted on Facebook.

“This is sooo unsettling and disturbing and hateful as hell!! Definitely not eating it and definitely never going there again! And no it’s not even cut! I’m ASTOUNDED!”

She said she was truly disappointed and saddened.

Two employees confessed to creating the backward swastika and have been fired, a spokesperson for the pizza chain said.

“We have zero tolerance for racism and discrimination in any form, and these franchise store employees were immediately terminated,” the company said.

We’re deeply disappointed that this happened, as this conduct is completely against our values.”

Mr and Mrs Laskas told CNN they had been informed the pizza was made as a joke between the two staff members, which is why it wasn’t cut.

The couple said they hope the pair learn from the incident.
