Dad, 30, who organised anti-Covid rally dies from virus
A dad of three who helped organise protests against lockdowns has died from coronavirus.
Caleb Wallace, from Texas, was hospitalised in the ICU with Covid-19 on August 8, the San Angelo Standard-Times reports.
His pregnant wife, Jessica, confirmed on Saturday (local time) that the 30-year-old had died from the virus after being on a ventilator for more than two weeks.
“Caleb has peacefully passed on. He will forever live in our hearts and minds,” she wrote on Facebook.
Just days before his death, Jessica spoke of her concern about her husband's condition on social media.
She said doctors told her “they’ve run out of options for him” and “he is not looking good”.
“My heart just can’t. I can’t imagine my life without him,” she wrote on Wednesday.
Mr Wallace leaves behind a wife and three daughters.
According to a GoFundMe page created by Ms Wallace, the couple are expecting their fourth child on September 27.
'My health has nothing to do with you'
The 30-year-old was staunchly against restrictions imposed to stop the spread of coronavirus.
He organised rallies against “Covid tyranny” in 2020 as Texas was in lockdown, San Angelo Live reported. Mr Wallace also founded he San Angelo Freedom Defenders, Fox News reported.
Mr Wallace told local officials at a Covid-19 Update held by local council in November that he opposed measures being taken to prevent the spread of the virus.
“My health has nothing to do with you. As harsh as that sounds, but our constitutional, fundamental rights protect that. Nothing else,” he said.
“I’m sorry if that comes off as blunt and that I don’t care. I do care. I care more about freedom than I do for your personal health.”
He wrote a letter to the local school district calling for it to "rescind" all Covid-related policies "immediately."
Man told wife masks wouldn't save her
Mr Wallace disliked people wearing masks too, his wife said.
“Caleb would tell me, ‘You know masks aren’t going to save you,’ but he understood I wanted to wear them,” Ms Wallace told Standard-Times.
It also appears he had not been vaccinated against the virus either. Ms Wallace told The New York Times her husband used vitamin D, C, aspirin, and Zinc, and ivermectin when he first fell ill.
Many Covid deniers have learnt about the virus’s existence in the harshest way possible.
Sydney woman Katie Puffet revealed on TikTok last week she is Covid-positive, calling herself “silly” for thinking she would “never get it” because “it isn’t a thing”.
Dick Farrel, a Florida-based radio shock jock, died from Covid-19 earlier this month.
Farrel often spoke out against the vaccine and the Chief of the US National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Disease, Dr Anthony Fauci, calling him a "power tripping lying freak."
