Dad tackles church minister as he 'inappropriately touches son at bus stop'

A dad has tackled a church minister, leaving him bloodied and bruised, after he allegedly saw him touching his son inappropriately at a bus stop.

Michael Coghill, 33, has been arrested and charged with lewd/indecent act to child by Oklahoma City Police Department.

The boy, nine, told his parents Coghill passed him at a bus stop on Monday (local time) and touched him in a way that made him uncomfortable, News 9 reported.

On Wednesday, the boy’s dad waited in a car nearby.

Sergeant Dillon Quirk with the Oklahoma City Police Department told the publication that while the dad was waiting he saw the suspect run past and stop to speak with his son.

The dad claims the man touched his son and that’s when he ran in and tackled him.

Coghill suffered a fractured skull.

It was later revealed that he was a minister with Lakehome Church of Christ. The church said in a statement it has relieved Coghill from his duties and is “heartbroken” over the allegations.

“We were shocked to learn this news through social media today,” the church said.

“Mike has a clean background check, and we have received no reports or claims against him during his tenure at Lakehoma. We will be fully cooperating with law enforcement as needed.

“Our hearts go out to the family and the child involved in the incident. We would encourage everyone to pray for this family during a very difficult time in their lives.”
