Family's heartbreak as girl, 7, 'dies from Covid complications'

Tributes are flowing after a seven-year-old girl reportedly died from "Covid complications" leaving her family and local community heartbroken.

Cassidy Baracka from Massachusetts, USA lost her life on January 18 with the "manner of death" currently being investigated.

Three weeks on, mourners are honouring the life of the "sweet" girl by dotting the neighbourhood of Groton with pink ribbons tied to letterboxes and trees.

The schoolgirl's family is heartbroken and mourning the loss of the seven-year-old as tributes flow through the community.

Tributes have also flooded Facebook and Twitter with the "terrible" news causing heartache among social media users.

"Rest easy sweet Cassidy," one mourner shared alongside a photo of the schoolgirl.

Others have sent their love to the family whose hearts will "never be full again".

Cassidy is being remembered for her "sweet" ways as well as her "hilarious jokes" and "kind, helpful and inclusive spirit," her obituary reads.

"It was very hard not to smile when you met or ran into Cassidy because she smiled all the time and told hilarious jokes," the obituary read.

"She was very inquisitive and smart with just the right amount of sass. She loved her mother very much. The pair did everything together."

Cassidy was also an avid dancer, singer, gymnast and "all-around artistic child" who "coloured and drew rainbows on a daily basis, and loved to make pictures for people to thank them or to brighten their day."

According to news channel MCVB, a statement from the Middlesex County District Attorney's Office said the investigation has not yet determined a cause of death, and the district attorney's office investigates all child deaths.
