Chilling story behind 'uninhabitable' $700,000 Sydney property listing
An “uninhabitable” home in Sydney’s inner west could fetch up to $700,000 a year after being fire-bombed.
The one-bedroom home on Campbell Street in Glebe is described as “not for the faint hearted”.
“This fire-ravaged terrace is essentially a raw property ready for revival,” its listing on realestate.com.au reads.
“The mainly smoke-damaged interiors are scorched but salvageable with high ceilings and timber floors that could be transformed into something special with a bit of vision and a lot of work.”
Ray White agent Peter Natoli told Yahoo News Australia he has had a “huge number of enquiries”, but the home “is not for everyone though”.
“Based on land value it could get about [$650,000 to] $700,000,” he said.
“We’ve had a number of phone and email enquiries about it because people are interested in the story behind it.
“We’ve had interest from all sectors.”
The home was targeted by a suspected arsonist in October last year and the resident renting the property had to flee in the dead of night.

"I walked to the front door, and then I saw the flames coming from the window, and the smoke. The smoke got me right in the lungs,” he told Nine News at the time.
"If I'd have been asleep they would have been taking me to the morgue."
The resident was hospitalised but later released and moved out of the home. Sadly, his pet budgies died in the fire.
A verandah at another Campbell Street home was also damaged by fire and the resident of that property had to flee.
On nearby Norton Street, a shopfront was torched by flames and a car in Westmoreland Street was also burnt.
The Campbell Street home is set to go under the hammer on August 22.
