Five children, including newborn twins, found in car while 'mum was drinking at bar'

A mum has been arrested, accused of leaving her five children under the age of six in a car while she was drinking at a bar.

Florida woman Kristie Johnson, 35, was supposed to take her five children to her mum’s home on Wednesday night according to her husband, WWSB reports.

But instead she was found at a bar while her five children, aged 5, 3, 11 months and two 20-day-old babies, were found inside a car parked outside shortly after midnight.

Johnson’s husband said he left for work at 6.30pm and got home to find his wife and children weren’t there.

He called his wife but their five-year-old daughter answered and told him they were at McDonald’s.

The man called again later and the little girl told him Johnson wasn’t in the car.

He told his daughter to honk the horn to get the attention of a bystander, CBS Cleveland 19 reported.

The dad left in a car and found his wife’s vehicle. He blocked it in a parking space with his car before calling police.

Police spoke to the bartender who told them the mum had two drinks and had been in the bar about half an hour.

The two drinks were vodka, according to NBC 2.

The 35-year-old was arrested and charged with five counts of child neglect.
