Fresh twist in suspected double suicide of Saudi sisters in Sydney

A new report has been ordered as investigations continue around the suspicious circumstances of two sisters from Saudi Arabia who were found dead in southwest Sydney.

Two months on, NSW police have ordered a second toxicology report after the sisters' bodies were returned to the Kingdom, according to SBS News.

They have not specified if there is anything particular they are looking for in the report.

On June 7, Asra Abdullah Alsehli, 24, and Amaal, 23, were found deceased at their unit in Canterbury after the building manager noticed mail piling up outside their door.

Officers previously said that the sisters’ bodies, which were found in separate bedrooms, had no obvious signs of injury but had been in the flat for what was believed to be a month.

There were no signs of forced entry into the property and police previously said there is "nothing to suggest" their family should be considered suspects.

It was reported that on Friday, the Consulate General of Saudi Arabia in Sydney said in a statement it "will continue to pursue the case with the relevant Australian authorities" and expressed its "sincere condolences to the family of the deceased".

Who are they

Little is known about the sisters, who arrived to Australia in 2017 and first settled in Fairfield.

They attended TAFE, worked as traffic controllers and reportedly kept to themselves, according to local media who interviewed their neighbours.

A report is still being prepared by the Coroner.

Anyone who may have information that could assist detectives is urged to contact Burwood Police Station on (02) 9745 8499 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
