Husband of teacher, 35, jailed over sex with teen will 'wait for her'
The husband of a 35-year-old school teacher who has been jailed for having sex with a student has reportedly vowed to stick by her.
Kandice Barber, from Wendover in northwest of London, was jailed for six years and two months last week after being found guilty of having intercourse with a boy aged 15.
The court heard Barber met the victim at the school where she worked and in 2018 started contacting him via Snapchat, sending explicit images of herself.
She took him to a field to have sex and threatened to accuse him of rape if he ever told anybody.
Investigating officer Detective Constable Collette Parker, from the Child Abuse Investigation Unit, said the 35-year-old “completely abused her position as a member of school staff to groom the victim”.
Teacher's husband 'remains loyal'
Despite her crimes, Barber’s husband Danny plans to stay married to his wife, according to The Sun.
“The whole ordeal has been very hard for him but he remains loyal to his wife and is willing to stand by her and wait,” a friend told the UK newspaper.
Another friend questioned his decision suggesting Barber had “some sort of spell over him”.
“Ultimately, if he waits for her to get out she is a very, very lucky woman,” the friend said.
An ex-partner of Barber’s also claimed she was sex-crazed and would demand it up to five times a day, and as she did not smoke or drink sex was “her only outlet”.
Det Cst Parker said on sentencing crimes like Barber’s would "not be tolerated”.
“We must also pay tribute to the victim and the witnesses in this case, many of whom are still children. They have also shown determination, courage and bravery throughout the two trials and their support for the investigation never faltered,” she said on Friday (local time).
“It has been an extremely traumatic time for them all and I hope today’s sentences brings them some kind of closure.”
