Key Covid statistic continues to drop despite another big spike in deaths
Covid deaths in NSW remained high on Sunday with a further 34 fatalities.
It means the state's deadliest week finished with a daunting 220 deaths.
New cases remained stable, with 20,324 reported on Sunday.
Hospitalisations dropped to 2,712 from 2,762 and the number of people in ICU dropped to 189.
Premier Dominic Perrottet is expected to make a decision soon on current restrictions in place, including mandatory indoor masks with the rule tipped to stay.
In the state's return to school plan, students and teachers will be asked to take a rapid antigen test twice a week, a rule which will be funded by the state government, the Daily Telegraph reports.
Mask mandates will be in place for high school students.
Victoria's positive Omicron trend
Victoria's drop in cases continued on Sunday with 13,091 announced while a further 14 people died from the virus in the state.
Sunday's overall daily case figure is the lowest recorded in Victoria since January 3, a sign the state's Omicron wave may have peaked.
