Man allegedly breaks into home and watches baby sleep in chilling CCTV
Tom and Isabella Ridgewell say they have no idea how the stranger allegedly entered their NSW property.
A family has spoken out after they claim a man broke into their home in the middle of the night and watched their six-month-old daughter sleep in her crib.
Tom and Isabella Ridgewell claim CCTV cameras inside their Tweed Heads, NSW, property captured the man turn off a light before entering the brick house on Friday night. They told 9News the stranger then opened their bedroom door and watched their infant daughter Amora as she slept in her crib at the end of their mattress.
“You can see the grass trail prints up to the bassinet,” a visibly upset Mr Ridgewell said.
Video footage then allegedly shows the unidentified man walk into the family’s kitchen and help himself to a beverage and some food before sitting on the couch. “He was making himself comfortable. He’s had half a block of parmesan cheese and just left it…helped himself to a beer,” the dad told 9News.
The man even played with the couple’s three dogs before reportedly reentering their bedroom, waking Mr Ridgewell, who grabbed a baseball bat and chased the uninvited guest out of the home.
The parents say the “scariest part” of the entire ordeal is that they have no idea how he allegedly broke into the property. Nothing appears to have been stolen. “It was almost like he was at home how he was acting,” Mr Ridgefield said.
Police concerned for man's welfare
NSW Police confirmed to Yahoo News Australia they are investigating the alleged incident.
“The man slept on the couch and ate food from the fridge before entering the bedroom, which alerted the occupants,” a spokesperson said. “A 32-year-old resident confronted the unknown man before hitting him with a baseball bat. The man then left the home and police were alerted.”

Officers canvassed the area and established a crime scene at the home, “which continued to be examined by specialist forensic officers throughout the day”.
Police said they have concerns for the welfare of the alleged intruder and appealing for anyone who can assist in identifying him to come forward. He is described as being of Indian/Sub-Continental appearance, in his 20s or 30s, and wearing a black shirt and coloured shorts.
