Man's seatbelt offence leads to $725K discovery
More than $700,000 was seized from a vehicle after police pulled over a driver for not wearing a seatbelt.
On Thursday about 8.30pm in the Bella Vista area in Sydney's northwest, police officers attached to The Hills Traffic and Highway Patrol detected a driver not wearing his seatbelt.
In a statement on Friday morning, NSW Police said officers stopped the Toyota Camry on Circa Boulevard and spoke with the 39-year-old male driver.
Police conducted a search of the vehicle and found $75,000 hidden in the boot of the Camry and under the rear seat.
The 39-year-old man was arrested and taken to Castle Hill police station.
Police executed a search warrant at an apartment in Bella Vista, where more money was found.

Police uncovered a further $650,000 at the serviced apartment, taking the total to some $725,000.
Images shared by NSW Police show the bulk of the cash was in $50 notes, and judging by the photos it seems the cash found in the car was wrapped in tape or stashed in bags.
The man, who was from Queensland, was charged with knowingly deal with proceeds of crime, police said.
He was refused bail to appear in court on Friday and police said enquiries were ongoing.
