$4.8 million Lotto win the perfect fix for mum’s bad day

A Narrabri mum has found the perfect antidote for a bad day after scoring the $4.8 million division one prize in Friday’s Set for Life draw.

The woman held one of two division one entries nationally in Set for Life draw 2262, drawn on Friday, October 15, and has won a prize of $20,000 every month for the next 20 years.

Speaking with an official from The Lott this morning, the lucky winner recounted how the news transformed her day from bad to amazing.

“I had a really bad day on Friday. I was feeling miserable actually,” she explained.

The NSW woman said that after returning home from a visit with her daughter, she sat on the couch and decided to check her ticket on The Lott app.

“As soon as I clicked on my ticket, I saw confetti fall from the screen and then I noticed the division one win. I screamed so loud and then burst into tears,” she excitedly told Lott.

“I ran straight into my son’s bedroom and woke him up to tell him. He just looked at me and said, ‘No way mum. You’re dreaming. Go back to bed’,” she laughed.

But, after sharing the life-changing news with her daughter and double checking the ticket, the woman realised she confirmed that she had in fact won the lottery.

“I didn’t sleep a wink that night. I stayed up chatting on the phone to my daughter. We kept talking about what to do with the money and how much it’ll change all our lives,” said the woman.

“We definitely cried and screamed a lot that night! We all did once we realised it was true."

There have been two division one wins in the New England region so far in 2021, worth more than $8.13 million.

The win also marks the second Set for Life division one win to land in New South Wales in just one week.

‘It feels like a dream’ says lottery winner

“Honestly it hasn’t sunk in. I keep pinching myself! It feels like a dream,” the winning woman added.

The ecstatic woman revealed that she spent that first sleepless night planning how she would spend her windfall.

“I love my job so much, so I definitely won’t quit. Plus, I would get bored if I quit,” she shared.

“The first thing any parent wants to do is help their kids, so that’s exactly what I will do.”

“I might look at buying a new house, or maybe a new car too. I will save a lot of it for my retirement too!”

She added that she felt like a weight had been lifted following the news, with many worries and pressure fading away.

The winning numbers in Set for Life draw 2262 were 6, 30, 17, 40, 22, 21 and 14, while the supplementary numbers were 38 and 1.
