New freedoms for NSW from TODAY - here's what you need to know
Fully vaccinated NSW residents are waking to even greater freedoms on Monday as the state nears an impressive 90 per cent of adults with both doses.
The latest easing of restrictions, which includes unlimited guests in your home, was brought forward from its initial December 1 date last week by Premier Dominic Perrottet.
From Monday, NSW businesses will move to density restrictions of one person for every two square metres and fully vaccinated diners can book without number limits.
As many as 1000 people can gather outdoors while stadiums, racecourses, theme parks, zoos, cinemas and theatres can operate at 100 per cent of their fixed-seated capacity.
The state will imminently reach is 90 per cent vaccine target, which currently sits at 89.8 per cent.
Big changes for schools
School children will be able to enjoy music classes, excursions and assemblies from Monday while teachers who aren't fully vaccinated will be suspended.
It was revealed at a budget estimates hearing in NSW Parliament last week that about 4900 teachers had not yet advised the Education Department of their vaccination status.
As part of Mr Perrottet's changes, all unvaccinated residents will have to wait until December 15 or when the state reaches a 95 per cent double-vaccination rate to enjoy greater freedoms. Those residents currently remain under pre-lockdown end restrictions.
Homes are now allowed to welcome as many vaccinated people as they wish, a significant change from the limit of 20 previously.
Of the rules to stay, masks remain mandatory in indoor settings and on public transport.
Gym classes are still limited to 20 people.
While lockdown ended nearly a month ago, NSW has yet to experience a significant uptick in cases predicted by some experts.
On Sunday 244 local cases were announced, with known daily infections lingering around the low hundreds in recent weeks.
