NSW parliament to be SUSPENDED as minister tests positive to Covid
NSW Agricultural Minister Adam Marshall has tested positive to Covid-19 forcing parliament to be suspended later on Thursday.
Mr Marshall is isolating after visiting exposure site Christo's Pizzeria in the inner-east Sydney suburb of Paddington on Monday night alongside Nationals colleagues Trevor Khan, Steph Cooke and Ben Franklin.
Mr Marshall told 2GB he was asymptomatic and had been isolating since Tuesday night.
In a statment, he said he was "doing fine" and praised NSW Health staff for their "amazing job".
On Thursday morning Health Minister Brad Hazzard revealed he too was isolating after being identified as a close contact of a positive case, understood to be Mr Marshall.
He was exposed at NSW Parliament House with the state government now at serious risk of further infections, Mr Hazzard told ABC Breakfast.
He said he did believe Premier Gladys Berejiklian was unlikely to be infected despite featuring alongside her daily at Covid-19 updates.
All four restaurant attendees were present in parliament on Tuesday afternoon and attended a partyroom meeting on Tuesday morning.
The parliament will operate on a skeleton staff on Thursday with just enough MPs to pass the budget before it's suspended.
Speaking on 2GB, Opposition leader Chris Minns said he would not deliver his budget reply speech on Thursday.
"All sides agree now is not the time for politics ... we need to get through what is a very difficult health situation in Sydney," he said.
