Princess found dead after shocking claims against ex-husband

The ex-wife of a Qatari prince has been found dead inside her home in Spain after she accused her former husband of inappropriately touching a child.

Kasia Gallanio’s death follows a 15-year custody battle with billionaire Abdelaziz bin Khalifa Al Thani, the 73-year-old uncle of the Emir of Qatar, over their three daughters.

The 45-year-old’s body was discovered in her Marbella bed on Sunday morning after a suspected drug overdose, according to French publication, Le Parisien.

Her youngest daughter had raised the alarm with police after she had been unable to get in touch with her mum for days, Spanish newspaper El Pais reported.

It comes just over a week after a Paris court put Ms Gallanio’s custody demands on hold until a psychological evaluation could be completed.

According to Le Parisien, Ms Gallanio had spent several months in hospital after a breakdown.

During the custody battle, she had claimed that her ex, the former oil and finance minister, had touched a minor in an inappropriate way.

He has strongly denied the claim.

The former couple share two 17-year-old twin daughters as well as a 15-year-old daughter.

While the older two live with their mother in Marbella, the younger child lives with her father in a luxury apartment in Paris where the Qatari royal was exiled following a coup in 1995.

“It is very sad because children need both parents,” Ms Gallanio had recently told Women’s World.

“The little one is not allowed to talk to me which makes me extremely sad.”

Al Thani has accused his third and former wife of being an alcoholic.

An autopsy will be carried out to confirm Ms Gallanio’s cause of death.
