If you’ve ever seen the show Riverdale, you know the fictional world is more than a little bit weird. There’s a drug called jingle jangle, an organ-farming cult and a so-called “serial killer gene” — and we’re just getting started.

KJ Apa, who plays the main character Archie who was so beloved when the show was merely a comic enterprise, has been acting a bit strange on social media lately. Not jingle-jangle strange, but still to the point where it’s worth noting.

TikTok user @marinaavalon shared proof of his unusual activity — a screen recording of an Instagram Live in which he painted his face in a very colorful, clown-like fashion with little explanation.

“Is KJ Apa okay?” she asked in the video.

Most commenters recognized the fact that he’s probably just joking around.

“He’s trying to get kicked off Riverdale, one user said.

“I like his slightly chaotic vibe very very much,” another wrote.

“I’m pretty sure he’s happier than all of us,” a third joked.

It’s likely he’s just having a little fun in quarantine like the rest of us, but some fans were still worried about him.

Riverdale drove him insane,” one wrote.

“He’s losing his mind like I’m actually concerned,” another said.

“Somebody really needs to investigate Riverdale production,” a third commented.

In July 2020, he shared his TikTok account @fifisqueen on his Instagram Story. He posted a few bizarre dance videos before seemingly abandoning it.

Fans also think that a nameless TikTok account known only as @user7370117022599 may be Apa — or just a fan devoted to uploading his rants from his other social media platforms.

The account has shared several videos of a man who appears to be Apa waxing poetically to the camera.

“At the end of the day, we’re all trying to do things that massage our brains,” he said in one video in a strange voice. “We’re all trying to do things that distract us from the things we really want to do.”

“Are these the epic highs and lows of high school football?” one commenter asked, referencing an unusual-but-iconic line from the show.

“Someone had too much jingle jangle,” another joked.

This is shaping up to be a very exciting new season of Riverdale.
