Rollercoaster victim had just learnt how to walk again after car crash
A Melbourne woman who was hit by a rollercoaster in a freak accident on Sunday had not long recovered from another dangerously close call with death, it has been reported.
Shylah Rodden, 26, was struck by the ride as she went to retrieve her phone from the tracks at the Melbourne Royal Show.
She had dropped it only minutes before, while on the ride herself.
Horrific video that emerged from the incident shows Ms Rodden stepping on to the tracks without noticing the oncoming carriage hurtling around a loop towards her.
As she bends down to retrieve the phone, she is hit and dragged along the tracks before being thrown nine metres to the ground. She remains in hospital in a critical condition.
Victim had only just learned how to walk again
Ms Rodden had to learn how to walk again last year after she was in a serious car accident in Melbourne, the Daily Mail reported.
She was reportedly travelling on the Western Ring Road in January 2021 when her car collided with a truck and another car before flipping.
According to the publication, she was not wearing her seatbelt at the time and was ejected from the vehicle, sustaining injuries so severe she required "significant" rehabilitation to learn to walk again.
It was the second serious car accident for the 26-year-old, who was reportedly in another crash in February 2019.
Ms Rodden was dealt another blow in July this year with the news that her brother had died.
On Facebook, she wrote that her "world came crashing down" in that moment.
"Dad sat me down and told me that my brother had passed away," she wrote.
"He wasn't just my big brother, he was my best friend, my everything, the person I looked up to and inspired to be like.

Ms Rodden’s dad, Alan Rodden, said on Monday his daughter was going to be in a coma "for quite a while" after sustaining devastating injuries in the accident.
"The injuries are horrific. Horrific. She's brain damaged. It's pelvic, her arms, legs, back, neck – there's hardly a thing that's not broken. I just can't work out how the hell so much damage has been done," Mr Rodden told the Daily Mail.
“Even the doctors have said they haven't seen anything as bad as this for a long time.”
