Teen girl charged with murdering brother, 3, and writing in his blood
WARNING - GRAPHIC DETAILS: A 15-year-old schoolgirl has been charged with murder after allegedly stabbing her three-year-old half-brother 28 times as he slept.
She then reportedly used the young boy’s blood to write a message on the wall to her mum, as confirmed by police who refused to discuss what it said.
The girl, identified only by her first name Oliwia, was alone at home and had been asked to look after Niko, 3, by her mum.
The alleged attack was so violent it left bloodstains on the wall of the house in which the two children lived with their single mother, who works in Germany as a cleaner.
The family were originally from the Polish city of Lodz and had moved to Detmold in Germany in 2013.
When the mum, identified as Agnieszka P., 46, arrived home, the boy was dead, and the teenage girl had vanished, police said.
The mum has been in psychiatric care since the tragedy, but had to leave and go back to work because she needed money.
She is still living in the same unit.
One of the mum’s friends, however, said the teen had written to her mum.
"It is a short letter, in which Oliwia writes that she feels terrible about what happened, and asks her mother if she wants to visit her in order to speak about everything," she claimed.
The ex-boyfriend of the mum, identified as Dimitri L., said he and Agnieszka had separated three months before.
“Oliwia was jealous of the little one, and felt left out," he claimed.
Police started a search for the teen immediately after the boy’s death with the use of helicopters.
She was found 10 kilometres from her home after police released her picture.
A police officer who arrested her said she showed no sign of resistance and appeared calm.
German prosecutors said the trial is likely to take place in mid-April behind closed doors because of the girl’s age.
She faces a maximum of ten years in jail.
