Urgent Omicron alert for two Sydney venues following 'super-spreader' cruise

An urgent health alert has been issued for two more venues in Sydney that were visited by positive Covid cases likely to be the Omicron variant.

The infected revellers visited the Albion Hotel in Parramatta and Cult Nightclub in Potts Point after leaving a Sydney Harbour party boat cruise.

The cruise sparked fears of a super-spreader event after three Omicron cases were confirmed following the 90s themed cruise on Friday December 3.

At least 11 of the passengers have tested positive to Covid, with authorities expecting the number of Omicron cases to rise.

Anyone who was at the Albion Hotel at 11pm on Friday December 4 to 3am on Saturday December 5 is considered a casual contact.

Any attendees in this period are instructed to immediately get tested and isolate until a negative result is received.

NSW Health is urging anyone who was on the affected cruise to get tested and follow public health advice. Members of their households are being asked to follow the same guidelines.

“Please get tested even if you have had a test in recent days. If your test result is negative, please continue to monitor for symptoms and if any symptoms appear, get tested and isolate again,” a statement from NSW Health read.

More than 40 Covid cases linked to pub trivia night

A Covid outbreak at a Sydney pub led to 45 new cases on Thursday.

The outbreak was centred around the Oxford Tavern pub in the inner-west suburb of Petersham.

Health authorities say the super-spreader event took place on November 30 when the venue hosted a trivia night.

"Anyone who was there that night is considered a close contact and must get tested immediately and self-isolate," Sydney Local Health District said.

The pub has announced it will be closed until December 11.
