Missing girl, 12, found 'safe and well' in Queensland

UPDATE: A 12-year-old girl who went missing in Kilcoy has been found.

Queensland Police said she was located “safe and well” at 1am on Friday.

EARLIER: Queensland Police have launched a desperate search to find a schoolgirl who hasn’t been seen since 8.30am Thursday morning.

The 12-year-old, who hasn’t been named but whose photo has been released by police, was last seen in Kennedy Street in Kilcoy, 50km north-west of Caboolture.

She had been wearing a Kilcoy State High School uniform at the time of her disappearance, which consisted of a maroon, white polo shirt and dark blue shorts.

Police believed she was at “significant risk”.

Extensive searches of surrounding areas returned no sign of the girl, and she had not been in contact with family or friends.

The girl was described as Caucasian in appearance, 155cms tall, with brown hair, of a medium build and a fair complexion.

She was also carrying a black jumper, and a black and pink backpack.
