US President Joe Biden, 79, takes worrying tumble

US President Joe Biden has taken a worrying tumble in front of a crowd of supporters as he attempted to dismount from a bicycle on Saturday (local time).

The 79-year-old was unharmed from the fall and did not require medical attention, The White House said.

The fall occurred in front of multiple media cameras as security pushed back a gathering crowd concerned over the welfare of the president.

Video shows Mr Biden coming to a halt on the bike before falling to his right prompting gasps from the crowd.

"I'm good," Mr Biden insisted after the fall.

He said he got his foot caught in the bike's pedal.

Mr Biden was wearing a helmet, shorts and a t-shirt.

He was cycling in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, with first lady Jill Biden. A day earlier they had celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary.

Appearing unfazed, he took several questions after the fall, where he said he would speak with Chinese President Xi Jinping “soon” and could lift Chinese tariffs as inflation continues to rise, The Hill reported.
