Dad's heartfelt post after death of 'beautiful and caring' son
William Wall’s father has written a heartfelt Facebook post, after the 14-year-old was found dead following an extensive search on Wednesday.
On Tuesday morning, William told his family he was going for a run, a frantic search was commenced when he failed to return.
On Wednesday, the search for William, who had high-functioning autism, ended in tragedy when he was found dead at Yarra Junction on Wednesday afternoon.
On Thursday morning, William’s father, Shane Wall shared a short yet heartfelt post about his son’s death.
“I wish I had better news regarding our beautiful and caring son and brother, William Wall, unfortunately he is no longer with us,” Mr Wall wrote.
“We don't know how to begin to thank everyone who searched and supported us in the last 48hrs the list is endless.
“We are so fortunate to live in an amazing and supportive community.”
Mr Wall had previously explained his son’s morning run was part of a routine for the “fitness fanatic”.
“It’s absolutely the first time he’s got lost. He’s a kid that sticks to himself, does all his school work, so this is really out of the ordinary,” Mr Wall said on Wednesday.
On Wednesday morning, Mr Wall praised the efforts of the police the SES and the local community in an interview on ABC.
“Actual support from local people, the Facebook community and the noticeboards and that, fantastic,” he said.
On Wednesday, Victoria Police confirmed to Yahoo News Australia, due to the vast resources, volunteers wanting to join the search for William, were turned away.
There are no suspicious circumstances in William's death and a report will be prepared for the coroner.
