Woman kills and dismembers housemate after being rejected

A woman will serve at least 23 years behind bars after murdering and dismembering a housemate who turned down her sexual advances.

Gareeca Gordon, 28, stabbed her 28-year-old housemate, Phoenix Netts, at their home in Birmingham, in England’s West Midlands, on April 16 last year, the Evening Standard reported.

Gordon stabbed Ms Netts four times and dismembered her with a circular saw, Bristol County Court heard.

The court heard on April 7, Ms Netts had told a friend Gordon had asked her for a sexual relationship.

Prosecution Andrew Smith QC told the court Gordon became “aggressive” when Ms Netts turned her down.

“At one stage Ms Gordon said either that her loins were warming up or were hot,” he said.

The last anyone heard from Ms Netts was on April 16.

The court heard a friend tried to call her and her phone had been used to search terms including “how to fix punctured lung” and “can someone recover from being stabbed”.

A post-mortem found Ms Netts had four stab wounds to the front of her torso.

The court heard Gordon purchased a circular saw on Gumtree on April 17.

Gordon placed the remains in two suitcases, The Guardian reported.

She then used Ms Netts’s phone and impersonated her to her family and friends to cover her tracks.

Gordon was arrested after being found with the suitcases in Forest of Dean on May 12 last year.

On sentencing, Justice Johannah Cutts told the court Ms Netts was chasing a “fresh start” and planned to move back home with her parents in London, but that was delayed by coronavirus restrictions.

She called Gordon “a very dangerous woman” on jailing her for life.

Gordon will serve at least 23 years and six months in jail.
