Woman's 'creepy' discovery inside basement of Airbnb

A TikToker has gone viral after she stayed at an Airbnb which had an "abandoned" shopping centre in the basement.

Earlier this week Claire, known as @claire.scheulin on TikTok, shared a video of inside the shopping centre.

"POV: Your Airbnb has an abandoned mall in the basement," she wrote in the caption, showing clips of the shopping centre's staircase, elevator and a long empty hallway.

The video blew up on TikTok, with more than 1.3 million likes and several people who were spooked by it.

In a later TikTok, Claire explained she did not know the video was going to go viral like it did, and reassured people she and her friends were okay.

"It's kind of creepy, but it's fine," she says in the video.

In the third video posted by Claire she took people on a tour of the Airbnb, including an eerie shot of a room filled with dated furniture.

Claire then included another TikTok video of a man named Josh who had also stayed in the building a few years back.

Josh explained the building had one working elevator.

"But basically the place was so run down and sketchy — it's a weird simulation glitch, really," Josh says in his video.

He added there was a cafe people would go and have coffee at, despite it being situated in an abandoned shopping centre.

Claire then shared a video of people sitting at the cafe.

Despite people wanting to know where the abandoned mall is, Claire did not say where it was.

However, people in the comments said it was likely located in Florida's Hollywood.

Both Claire and Josh may have stayed above the abandoned Oceanwalk Mall, which a Google Search confirms is closed, In The Know reported.

Though the mall is closed, the apartments and rooms which sit above are still open.

In the comments of Claire's tour of the abandoned mall, one person said they had been there too and said it was in Hollywood.

They said it wasn't scary, but rather "pretty cool".

Someone else said the Oceanwalk Mall had three stores in the mall, another person commented saying it was "not really abandoned".
