Woman's despair as worker 'dumps' garden waste on her driveway

A disability pensioner is distraught after a tree lopper dumped a truckload of mulch on her driveway which she says was done without her consent.

When the man offered to give Michelle free mulch to protect and enrich her soil, she said she only requested a small amount for her garden, however he kept on unloading more as Michelle filmed the whole incident. Now the woman living in western Sydney's Werrington County "can't even get into the garage". She is forced to deal with the large amount of mulch and garden rubbish, full of logs and palm trees, all by herself.

"He kept dumping and I ran over and said stop, stop," Michelle told A Current Affair. "I can’t afford to get rid of this, I can’t believe he would’ve done this. I'm more upset that someone would take advantage of me."

When Michelle begged the man working at the tree lopping company to take back all the mulch, she claimed he told her to share it among her friends, even telling A Current Affair in a recorded voice call that he was "doing a favour" by giving it all to her.

He also reportedly ended up coming back, but just to "throw all the palm trees to the side".

Having sorted through what she can, Michelle says she doesn't know what to do with the rest of the huge hill of mulch still kicking up a stink in her driveway.

"A rubbish company said two skip bins will require $800, I don’t have that amount of money, I'm on a disability pension," Michelle said to A Current Affair.

"When I called police they said it was a council problem, when I called council they said its not their problem," she claimed. "Who else do people like me call? When people like this are intimidating and dumping their stuff here."

Social media users slam man's 'illegal dumping'

Many people responding online thought the tree looper's actions were "shocking," questioning whether his actions were legal.

"Guess he doesn't like paying dump fees," one person said on Facebook. "There's a difference between dropping off a trailer load of mulch and dumping garden refuse, which is what this guy has done," said another.

"The second the lady told him to stop it went from giving her a bit of mulch for her garden to illegal dumping as her consent was removed. Report him to the City Council for unlawful dumping of rubbish. There is film footage of him doing it and consent being withdrawn. I'd say this is not the first time he has done this."
