'Healthy' Sydney toddler who died from Covid identified
A New South Wales toddler who died from Covid a day after being diagnosed has been identified.
Carter Cheung, from Sydney, had been on life support at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead after contracting the virus and becoming "very sick" on Wednesday.
The two-year-old boy was admitted to hospital early Thursday morning but passed away on Friday, the Sydney Morning Herald reported.
A GoFundMe for the child's family has since raised more than $12,000, with the organiser thanking those who have donated.
One of four reported deaths in NSW on Monday
The child had no underlying health conditions and his death will not be referred to the coroner.
The toddler was one of four people confirmed on Monday to have died from the virus.
"Tragically, a previously well two-year-old child from Sydney died at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead due to Covid-19 infection," NSW Health said in a statement.

Children under five are not yet eligible for the Covid vaccination.
In January, a three-year-old boy with a rare genetic condition became the youngest person in NSW to die after contracting Covid-19.

Parents urged to vaccinate children
Deputy Chief Health Officer Marianne Gale is urging parents of children aged five and older to get them vaccinated "without delay", saying many children would now be eligible for their second dose.
"I'd like to remind everybody that booster doses for Covid-19 vaccine are available for people age 16 years and over three months after a second dose," she said.
