'This is not ok': AFL fan's mid-match snack sets internet alight

A Port Adelaide fan has set the internet alight after a sneaky photo captured him eating dry Weetbix during an AFL game.

Port fans were left disappointed when the Bulldogs ran away with a 17-point victory on Saturday night in brisk conditions.

But one fan, wearing a Port beanie, caught the eye of onlookers due to his mid-match snack at Adelaide Oval.

The unknown fan was holding a box of Weetbix and was eating the Aussie snack by itself.

Many fans on Reddit claimed even just looking at the photo made their mouth feel dry, which prompted a number of users to share their thoughts.

"My mouth is dry just thinking about this," one user wrote.

"Dry Weetbix is not OK, sorry, it's just not," another wrote.

One user praised the fan and wrote: "Absolute champion."

The mid-match snack certainly caused a debate online over whether dry Weetbix is a suitable snack, or whether it should be left for breakfast with milk.

Unfortunately, the fan would have been left with a bitter taste in his mouth after watching his team lose to the Bulldogs who have firmed as strong title contenders.

The Bulldogs overcame the loss of influential backman Easton Wood to another hamstring strain to defeat fellow premiership contender Port on Saturday night.

And Beveridge has hailed the 15.6 (96) to 12.5 (77) triumph at Adelaide Oval as full of significance for his team.

"It will do wonders for the belief of the group," he said.

"The importance of these outings and these experiences can't be undersold.

"You find encouragement in the fact, and the players do, in believing in what we're trying to do together.

"And against a team like Port on their home deck, where they have been significantly strong and don't drop many (games), we can definitely bank that and feel good about it.

"And, hopefully, it's an experience that as we continue on will help us."
