'Talking s**t': Usain Bolt sparks war-of-words with American star

Sprint legend Usain Bolt has sparked a war-of-words with American athlete Sha'carri Richardson after telling her to 'work harder' instead of talking a big game.

Bolt featured in an interview last week for The New York Post where he appeared to take aim at the American athlete for not training hard enough.

“I would tell Sha’Carri to train harder and to be focused and not say too much … If you talk that big talk, you have to back it up," he said.

“So just train hard and focus on that...and try to come back do it, and then talk about it.”

The American missed the Tokyo Olympics due to a ban, but returned to the track at on August 21.

However, her return didn't go to plan as she ran in last place at the Prefontaine Classic in Oregon.

Tokyo Olympic gold medalist Elaine Thompson-Herah won the 100m race.

However, the American has since hit back at the eight-time Olympic gold medalist.

In a social media post, Richardson re-posted a fan's comment.

“Everybody want to give advice in the media but none of them actually take the time to speak to her outside the media. So I feel her. Stop speaking on me when you don’t even speak to me.”

The 21-year-old American runner then added to the post with her own words: “Good ‘humbling’ morning to y’all” and “I could not have said it better.”

She then added a photo of herself smirking with her legs crossed captioned: “Y’all haven’t even heard the half of me."

In his interview, Bolt added that he feels her 's**t talking' often gives an added reason for her opponents to beat her.

“Jamaicans don’t like when people talk s**t about us because we are a very proud people," he added.

"So if you talk about us we are gonna want you to back it up. It definitely gave those women the extra push [to win.]," he added.
