Nick Kyrgios stepped out with new girlfriend Costeen Hatzi at Melbourne Park on Sunday as the Aussie tennis star ramped up his Australian Open preparations.

Kyrgios hit the practice court on Sunday ahead of Monday's opening day of the year's first grand slam.

Sitting courtside as Kyrgios worked on his game was new girlfriend Hatzi, with the pair recently going public wth their new relationship.

Kyrgios and Hatzi shared a kiss and packed on the PDA, confirming the rumours about their new romance.

Kyrgios recently started dating Sydney-based blogger Hatzi after his tumultuous relationship with Chiara Passari came to an end last year.

Kyrgios and Passari reportedly had to be separated by police in October after a row while in hotel quarantine in South Australia.

Kyrgios then returned home to Canberra alone in what appeared to be the straw that broke the camel's back for the relationship.

Passari had previously posted an image on Instagram which she claimed showed Kyrgios asleep in bed with another woman.

She has also posted a variety of screenshots allegedly showing private conversations between her and Kyrgios, including messages from the tennis star for her collect her things from his house.

Hatzi and Kyrgios have since gone public with their romance, sharing a number of photos on social media with each other.

Nick Kyrgios recovers after contracting Covid-19

The sight of Kyrgios on the practice court was a welcome one for fans after he announced recently that he'd contracted Covid-19.

The 26-year-old pulled out of the Sydney Tennis Classic last week just hours before his match against Italian firebrand Fabio Fognini.

He also withdrew from the Melbourne Summer Set the week before due to a mystery illness that sparked his asthma.

Kyrgios was cleared of Covid-19 at the time, but last Monday he confirmed he had contracted the virus.

"I just want to be open and transparent with everyone, the reason I have had to pull out of Sydney is because I tested positive for Covid," Kyrgios posted on his Instagram story.

"I am feeling healthy at the moment with no symptoms.

"I wish everyone all the best and to stay safe where you can. If all goes well I will see you all at the Australian Open."

Despite his ranking slipping to World No.114, Kyrgios remains one of the biggest drawcards in world tennis due to his amazing abilities and knack for on-court meltdowns.

He made the quarter-finals of the Australian Open in 2015, and has reached the fourth round on two other occasions.

But he faces a monumental task to cause any type of damage in Melbourne.

Kyrgios hasn't played since a straight sets loss to World No.4 Stefanos Tsitsipas at the Laver Cup in September.

It means he will have gone almost four months without a competitive match when he walks out on court at the Australian Open.
