The boxing world has erupted after Gervonta 'Tank' Davis delivered a stunning sixth round knockout in his lightweight bout against Rolly Romero.

Davis and Romero entered the ring after a week of antics, which included some ugly words traded between the pair.

Romero started strongly and had Davis moving around in the first few rounds as he tried to enforce his size on Tank.

However, the momentum all came crashing down when Davis landed a huge left hand on Romero in the final moments of round six.

Romero was able to get to his feet, but was clearly dazed as the referee called the fight off.

Social media lit up after the blockbuster knockout.

Up until the big left counter, Romero was certainly in the fight .

Ron McNair had Davis 49-46 and Robin Taylor had him 48-47.

Kevin Morgan had it 48-47 for Romero.

Davis took his knockout record to 25 in 27 wins.

“The crazy thing is, I didn’t throw it hard,” Davis said after the fight.

“I just threw it and he ran right into it. I didn’t throw it that hard.”

Davis is in a prime position to fight the winner of George Kambosos and Devin Haney when the pair square-off for the belts in the lightweight division next week.

Kambosos caused the boxing upset of the year in 2021 when he defeated Teofimo Lopez in Brooklyn to take home the WBO, WBA and IBF belts.

Haney (27-0, 15 KOs) owns the WBC lightweight title while Kambosos is the WBC's franchise champion.
