Premier League clubs will mark the passing of Diego Maradona across the weekend.

The former Argentina star - one of the greatest footballers of all time - died on Wednesday at the age of 60 following a heart attack at his home in Tigre.

Starting with Friday night’s game between Crystal Palace and Newcastle, there will be a minute's applause before kick-off in every match, while players and officials will all wear black armbands in memory of Maradona.

Meanwhile, the BBC will on Friday night show a re-run of the entire 1986 World Cup quarter-final between Argentina and England in Mexico, during which Maradona scored one of the most infamous goals ever, later proclaimed the “Hand of God”.

That was followed swiftly by one of the greatest, which was voted Goal of the Century in 2002.

Viewers can watch the game on the iPlayer or BBC Sport app from 5pm GMT.
