'We are f***ed': Football fans travel 16 hours to completely wrong city
Die-hard Benfica FC fans have made an epic mistake after travelling 16 hours to watch their team play only to find out they ended up in the wrong city.
Alvaro Oliveira and his friends ended up in Frankfurt an der Oder instead of the main city of Frankfurt, where the second leg of the Europa League tie was being held.
Oliveria wasn’t aware of the mistake until he posted a photo of himself in front of a sign for Frankfurt (O) – meaning Frankfurt on the Oder – near the border of Poland.
The two cities are 600km apart.
So some Benfica fans are traveling to the wrong City of Frankfurt. They went to Frankfurt (Oder) in Eastern Germany instead of Frankfurt (Main). Oh boy. #SGEBenfica pic.twitter.com/NotG37jft3

He still found time to double check and explore the town before confirming his mistake.
“We’re f****,” one of his social media posts read.
“We have a further six-hour drive,” Oliveria said.
To compound his misery, Frankfurt knocked Benfica out of the Europa League on away goals after the tie finished 4-4 on aggregate.
