Fantasy basketball: Waiver wire options for Week 2 of the NBA
The first week of the NBA season is almost in the books, but it is never too early to cast our eyes at the waiver wire.
Make sure rookies like Evan Mobley and Chris Duarte are floating around on your wire, (they likely aren’t), but that doesn’t mean we can’t find some other under-rostered options to hello your fantasy basketball team.
Eric Bledsoe
He was undoubtedly horrible last season in New Orleans, but he looks more like he did in Milwaukee this season in Los Angeles.

There will be some wonky shooting, but he has a solid role and is engaged on the court and that makes him a must roster player.
Alperen Şengün
It might not be long until Şengün replaces Daniel Theis in the starting lineup.
I would be pretty surprised if it took until Christmas.
Şengün’s minutes will be low to start off, but he is already averaging over 21 points off the bench and I wouldn’t want to wait until other managers figure it out.
Will Barton
Barton is off to a flier, averaging almost 34 points per game so far as the Nuggets’ starting shooting guard.
Yet, he is available in over 40% of Yahoo leagues.
He is a clear must-roster player in all leagues.
De’Anthony Melton
Dillon Brooks returning may screw this up, but I don’t care.
I will ride Melton’s waves until Taylor Jenkins turns it off.
He is a better category league option, but he is making casual NBA fans notice what advanced stats folks have known for years - Melton is at worst a top 100 NBA player.
He is a must-roster player.
Desmond Bane
Melton’s teammate has been awesome as well.
I think Jenkins continues to start Bane when Brooks is back.
His game isn’t as multi-categorical as Melton’s, but he will get an opportunity and his value as a scorer and shooter is reflected nicely in default Yahoo formats.
Kelly Oubre Jr
It has helped that Terry Rozier has been either absent or limited so far, but Oubre is off to a solid start.
He is averaging 26 points per contest, and that could drop off, but he probably shouldn’t be freely floating on the wire at this stage.
Ricky Rubio
With Darius Garland sidelined, Rubio is starting, and turning back the clock.
Maybe this is only a short-term thing, but for now, grab Ricky and reap the rewards of almost 36 fantasy points per game.
Precious Achiuwa
It may get rough when Pascal Siakam is back, but he is clearly ahead of Khem Birch and Chris Boucher for now and should be on a roster in 12 team leagues.
