'Doing deliveries': Nick Kyrgios follows through with incredible virus gesture

Nick Kyrgios has backed up his words with actions, taking to the streets to deliver food to fans in need during the coronavirus crisis.

The Australian tennis ace has again shown his big heart, vowing to drop off food to anyone going hungry during the pandemic.

Following his generosity shown during the summer bushfires, when he kick-started a fund-raising campaign that raised almost $5 million, Krygios is using his profile to reach those in need.

On Monday he posted a note on Instagram saying he will deliver food to anyone going without.

“If ANYONE is not working/not getting an income and runs out of food, or times are just tough ... please don't go to sleep with an empty stomach,” Kyrgios wrote.

“Don't be afraid or embarrassed to send me a private message. I will be more than happy to share whatever I have.

“Even just for a box of noodles, a loaf of bread or milk. I will drop it off at your doorstep, no questions asked!”

And on Wednesday morning Kyrgios followed through with his pledge.

“Tomorrow I will be doing as many deliveries as I can throughout the day to the nearest people I have been in contact with,” Kyrgios wrote on Tuesday night.

“If I haven't read your message yet, trust me I will do my absolute best to get to yours.

“To my international friends around the world, I wish I could do more. But things are tough, stay strong. Brighter days are coming.”

‘Real’ Nick Kyrgios comes to the fore

Fellow tennis player and good mate Matt Reid commended Kyrgios’ actions.

“Well done NK, in times like these you see how people react and, once again, like the bushfires you’re looking to help others,” Reid wrote on Twitter.

“As someone who has travelled with Nick for a while this comes as no shock - hopefully people are starting to see the real Nick.”

Kyrgios appears to be spending the ATP shutdown at his Canberra home and recently posted an image of him adding to his tattoo collection.

The ATP Tour has been suspended until at least the end of the month, although is unlikely to resume then with the French Open and Wimbledon tournaments already postponed.
